Hainault attack latest: Police suffered 'really horrific injuries' in sword attack - BBC News Hainault attack latest: Teenage victim went to Bancroft's, same school as Grace O'Malley-Kumar - BBC News
(32 minutes later)
Hainault, where yesterday's attack was carried out, is in the borough of Redbridge in north-east London. A flag is flying at half-mast today at Bancroft's - a school in Woodford Green, east London, where the 14-year-old Hainault victim was a student.
Police said the incident began in Thurlow Gardens, a street next to Hainault Tube station. This is the second time in less than a year the school has been hit by tragedy.
They were called to the area shortly before 07:00 BST on Tuesday to reports of a vehicle being driven into a house there. As we said in our last post, one of its former pupils, Grace O’Malley-Kumar, died last June in a knife attack in Nottingham, where she was studying at university.
Five people went on to be injured in the area, including a 14-year-old boy who died. A 36-year-old man carrying a sword has been arrested and is in hospital.
