On Thursday 1 May elections will be held for 23 councils and six mayors in England. First results are coming in from local elections being held in parts of England.
Around a third of electors in England are eligible to vote, and more than 1,600 councillors will be elected. The BBC predicts that Andrea Jenkyns of Reform UK will become the first mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, with some parts of the mayoralty still to declare.
On the same day there is also a Westminster by-election in the Cheshire seat of Runcorn and Helsby. Labour has retained three of its existing mayoralties, with Reform coming second in all of them. In both Doncaster and North Tyneside, Labour's majority was less than 1,000.
In some parts of England, local elections have been postponed because the government is planning to reorganise local councils. Most of the 23 council results are expected on Friday afternoon, but overnight counts have seen Reform taking seats from both Conservatives and Labour.

In parts of England with no district councils, like in Cornwall, Doncaster and Buckinghamshire, local authorities are responsible for the full range of services - these also include bin collections, public housing and planning. Council seats
Mayors in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Doncaster, North Tyneside, and the West of England are up for election. While in two areas - Hull and East Yorkshire, and Greater Lincolnshire - voters will have the chance to elect a mayor for the first time. Only four council areas have been counting overnight. So far in Northumberland, Staffordshire and Lincolnshire, Reform UK are in the lead, while the Conservatives have the most council seats in Hertfordshire.

GET IN TOUCH: Tell us the election issues that matter to you In Greater Lincolnshire, former Conservative MP Andrea Jenkyns, who defected to Reform in November, is predicted to become the area's first mayor, with a strong lead over her closest opponent, Conservative Rob Waltham.
Labour has held on to three of its mayoralties, in North Tyneside, Doncaster, and the West of England. Reform UK were second in all three, coming within 500 votes of victory in North Tyneside.
