Firefighters are in the process of rescuing four canoeists who have become stuck in a river in north Wales. Rescuers are continuing to try and save two canoeists who got into difficulty on a river in Conwy in north Wales.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the incident at Penmachno near Betws-y-Coed in Conwy at 1703 GMT. Two other canoeists have been brought to safety after the group got trapped in fast-flowing water near the Conwy Falls restaurant in Betws-y-Coed.
Two fire engines, two water incident unit and a rope rescue unit are at the scene near the Conwy Falls hotel. Two North Wales fire engines, two water incident units and a rope rescue unit are currently on site.
The four canoeists are reportedly stuck under a bridge on rocks in fast-flowing water. There are no details about the casualties or the condition of the two people still trapped.
