While the cause of the incident remains unclear, the newspaper Izvestia cited a source who said the bridge may have been brought down by an explosion. “A bridge on a highway was blown up as a train with 388 passengers was moving under it,” Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz told the television channel Russia 24 on Sunday morning.
Multiple Telegram channels have claimed that the bridge was likely targeted by sabotage. First responders continue to rescue people from the wreckage.
