Hundreds of air passengers have been forced to spend the night in Inverness after the weather conditions closed the city's airport. All flights to and from Inverness Airport have been cancelled following the freezing weather conditions.
About 16 travellers opted to stay in the airport terminal to bring in the new year with champagne and pizza. Dozens of passengers had to spend Hogmanay in the city after snow and ice closed the airport, affecting hundreds of travellers.

Inglis Lyon, managing director of Highlands and Islands Airports said: "Providing it's not -20C, it's -10C, -15C, we'll be okay for tomorrow." A spokeswoman said the airport had been closed all day on Friday due to the frozen runway.
He added: "We've got staff in tonight just making sure we've got enough to get planes out." Passengers have been advised to check the airport's website for further information.
The spokeswoman said: "Staff worked throughout the night to keep the runways clear and have worked throughout the day to try and clear the ice.
"Unfortunately due to ongoing freezing conditions the airport has had to close from 3pm today."
