Fatal accident causes M5 delays Man killed after breakdown on M5

The M5 motorway near Bristol has been partially closed following a fatal accident just after 0700 GMT. A man was knocked down and killed after his car broke down on the M5 near Bristol at about 0700 GMT.
Two lanes are currently shut on the southbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 15 near the Almondsbury interchange. Police say he got out of the car on the hard shoulder and was hit by at least three vehicles - none of which stopped.
Police advise that they may also have to close the third lane later as they investigate the crash. Two southbound lanes are currently closed between junctions 14 and 15 between Thornbury and Falfield.
Long tailbacks have built up between Thornbury and Falfield and drivers are being asked to avoid the motorway. Police are asking drivers to avoid the motorway due to long tailbacks near the Almondsbury interchange and say they may have to close the third lane later.
