A man was knocked down and killed after his car broke down on the M5 near Bristol at about 0700 GMT. A lorry driver was killed when he got out of his cab on the hard shoulder of the M5 near Bristol and was hit by up to three other lorries.
Police say he got out of the car on the hard shoulder and was hit by at least three vehicles - none of which stopped. None of the lorries stopped and police are treating the area as a crime scene following the collision at 0700 GMT.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said it was possible the other drivers may not be aware of what happened.
