An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive is under way. Headteacher John McNaughton said Brandon was a "quiet, well-liked boy".
A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances. He added that a school open evening planned for Tuesday had been cancelled.
Safety review Mr McNaughton said: "Clearly the nature of Brandon's sudden death has impacted on all of this school community.
'Deep loss'
"He was a quiet, well-liked boy who had a close circle of friends. He was a hard-working student with a very supportive family. He was a gentle, unassuming, polite young man.
"It is a deep loss to us all."
An investigation into the accident is under way by the Health and Safety Executive.
A Lancashire police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
