Two people have been killed after a crane collapsed at a construction site in south-west London. Two people have been killed after a crane collapsed onto a block of residential flats.
Police, ambulance staff and firefighters were called shortly before 1800 BST to the site in Battersea Park. One of the men that died was the crane driver and another is thought to be a man washing his car.
Two men were pronounced dead at the scene, one man has minor injuries and a woman is suffering from shock, said a Scotland Yard spokesman. The block in Battersea, south-west London, has been evacuated but police say no-one inside has been injured.
Some roads have been closed while investigations continue and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed. The flats are on the edge of a construction site and local residents describe the collapse as like a bomb going off.

BBC correspondent Tom Edwards said: "Even in the dark you can see the crane buckled and the top half of it has been embedded into the top of the flats.
"People here are in shock. Many thought a bomb had gone off. A number of locals have also told me the other man to have died was someone out washing their car. Obviously that has not been confirmed as yet."

A man who suffered minor head injuries has been taken to St Thomas's Hospital.
Eight ambulances, one air ambulance, two motorcycles and a fast response car were sent to the scene.
