Blaenau Gwent regained by Labour Conservatives gain target seats

Labour has emphatically regained its former stronghold Blaenau Gwent lost in the last election to an independent following an internal party row. The Tories have gained two of its target seats from Labour - Vale of Glamorgan and Aberwony, and Montgomeryshire from Lembit Opik.
Seven constituencies have called so far in Wales with Labour holding six, gaining one and Plaid gaining one. Labour emphatically regained its former stronghold Blaenau Gwent lost in the last election to an independent following an internal party row.
The Welsh Conservatives took Aberconwy in north Wales after expressing disappointment at not taking a number of seats from Labour in the north east. So far 12 constituencies across Wales have called.
There are signs they could still be on course for surprise gains elsewhere. Labour wins 10, Tories win three, Liberal Democrats one and Plaid Cymru also one.
The Liberal Democrats vote appeared to be squeezed despite a strong showing in Ceredigion, with a close result expected in their target seat of Swansea West.
