1539: Labour minister Jim Knight, who lost his seat last Thursday, tells the BBC Gordon Brown is doing exactly the right thing, "which is trying in a dignified way to carry on being prime minister while we're waiting for this situation to resolve itself". He says that if a so-called "rainbow coalition", made up of a number of parties, including Labour, can be formed, "then he needs to be there as part of that negotiation and as part of that government".
