A boy and a man have been arrested over a drive-by shooting in Manchester. | |
The 16-year-old and 26-year-old were arrested outside Greater Manchester on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. | |
It follows the shooting of a 17-year-old girl and a man from a car on Great Western Street, Moss Side at about 1800 BST on Sunday 23 May. | |
The girl was shot in the elbow, while the 20-year-old man, believed to be her partner, was shot in his lower back. | |
Early indications suggest it may be linked to a dispute from outside Greater Manchester Sup Stuart Barton, of Greater Manchester Police | |
Both were treated in hospital for their injuries, which are not life-threatening. | |
Sup Stuart Barton, of Greater Manchester Police said: "Sunday was a hot day, and lots of people were on the streets of Moss Side enjoying the sunshine. | |
"A pleasant day was ruined when a girl and a man were shot in the street in what was a shocking incident. | |
"We are doing all we can to find who is responsible for this attack. | |
"We have made two arrests so far, but the investigation is still very much ongoing and we're following up a number of lines of inquiry. | |
"We're keeping an open mind as to what the motives are for this shooting. However, early indications suggest it may be linked to a dispute from outside Greater Manchester. | |
"This sort of crime is a priority for us." |
