Kluk accused 'missed apprentice' Accused 'last to see' Kluk alive
(about 4 hours later)
A handyman accused of murdering student Angelika Kluk said he "missed his apprentice" on the day she was reported missing, according to a witness. The man accused of raping and murdering the Polish student Angelika Kluk told police he was the last person to see her before she went missing.
Parishioner Veronica Turner, 69, described seeing Peter Tobin and Miss Kluk working together at St Patrick's Church hours before she went missing. Peter Tobin also told police his name was Patrick McLaughlin and gave officers a false address.
The witness was giving evidence at the High Court in Edinburgh. Constable Barry Hendren, 27, was giving evidence on day nine of the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Pc Barry Hendren, of Strathclyde Police, said Mr Tobin had gone from the chapel by the time officers returned to search Glasgow's St Patrick's Church for a second time last September.
He told how he and a colleague were called to the church shortly before midnight on Monday, September 25.
'Shambolic' claims
He said he was met by several people linked to the church, including the priest Father Gerry Nugent, Martin MacAskill and the accused, who identified himself by the name Pat McLaughlin.
Pc Hendren described for the court how he and his colleague carried out preliminary searches of the chapel grounds, the church itself and the garage.
The accused was present on all those occasions, alongside the priest, the court heard.
Pc Hendren told the court a number of people later gathered in the church common room to allow police to take down details of the missing person.
The witness said his colleague asked the gathering who had been the last person to see Miss Kluk.
"Who answered that question?" asked prosecutor Dorothy Bain.
"Pat McLaughlin," the witness replied, adding that he said he was the last person with her on the Sunday night.
