| In our clinics we can only apologise to any young women we see who has had her full three doses of Cervarix and yet presents in great distress with genital warts. | Ok gsk is British, but shouldn't the priority be health? In my opinion the gov should have chosen gardasil, especially now looking at Australia's stats - it would be useful to know how much money they saved compared to the extra cost of gardasil.BUT what annoys me more is that I'm a 20 year old girl so just missed out. I'm going to ask my doc about gardasil and pay for it using my student loan. | |

| F - how can you trust health professionals when you have just made the statement below about the financial aspect? Cures get wheeled to front of the queue dependpent upon who makes the most money. Re nutrition, if we ensure that we eat the right food we are going some way to boosting our own immune system. I know many older people who didn't worry about these normal childhood illnesses. | |

| @norwici- I agree with you that the government should aim to help employment in the UK, however, two things concern me about the original decision- the fact that the UK went with Cervarix was different to almost every other country and there was a strong rumour at the time that GSK threatened to move their R&D abroad if they didn't get the contract. But the fact that GSK is British is not unimportant - you'll find employers pay a lot of NI too. Contrast Pfizer's closure of UK R&D with the loss 2,400 science-base jobs with GSK's recent investments. | @norwici If you factor in cost savings pertaining to genital warts, Gardasil actually works out more cost effective than Cervarix. It did at the time of the first contract and still does.Individuals in the UK pay National Insurance towards the NHS and in return expect to have the NHS deliver the best it can (within its financial constraints).
