A woman believed to be the mother of a dead four-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of her murder. A mother has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of her four-year-old daughter in Manchester.
The girl's body was found at a council house on Garthorne Close, in Moss Side. Police were called after Chantelle Blake, 31, walked into Manchester Royal Infirmary on Thursday evening, concerned about her child Kaiya.
Manchester Royal Infirmary staff contacted police at 19:15 BST on Thursday after the woman came to "express concerns" about her. Officers went to the terraced home on Garthorne Close, Moss Side, just after 19:15 BST and found the child's body.
The entrance to the cul-de-sac where the two-storey house is situated has been cordoned off.
Forensic tests have also been carried out and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later.
'Lovely little girl'
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the force was contacted by hospital after a woman "expressed concerns" about the welfare of a four-year-old girl.
Inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

The 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody for questioning, police said. Ch Supt Stuart Barton said: "Our thoughts are with the girl's family at this extremely difficult time.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the child's body later.
