Nobody was on the train except for the driver, who was uninjured. The spokesman said that trains travelling from London to the West and South West that were due to stop at Westbury were stopping at Frome in Somerset and passengers were then being taken to Westbury by bus.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour, and Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth were stopping at Trowbridge from where passengers were being taken by bus to Westbury.
Trains that were just passing through Westbury without stopping were continuing on their journeys, the spokesman said.
