Police in Leicestershire are dealing with what they have described as a "critical incident" at an aerodrome. Two light aircraft have collided near a Leicestershire aerodrome.
Leicester Airport, formerly known as Stoughton Aerodrome, has been cordoned off for several hours and a police helicopter has been seen overhead. The planes landed near Gartree Road in Great Stretton, near Leicester Airport, at about 14:00 GMT on Sunday, police said.
Gartree Road, from Stoughton Road to Mere Road, has been closed off to enable emergency services to deal with the incident.
No details are known about how the planes crashed as Leicestershire Police refused to give further information.
The force would not say if the crash was in the air or on the ground.
Ambulances have been seen entering the cordon although it is not known if anyone has been injured.
