Energy company Western Power Distribution said 4,000 of its customers had been affected by power cuts, spread in "small pockets" across east and west Wales.
A spokeswoman said the main problems have been with debris, such as small branches, hitting power lines.
"It's been a very busy day - they've dealt with around 45 high voltage faults - which is equivalent to a weeks worth of work in last 12 hours," she said.
"Staff have been working throughout the night."

"We've got storm force winds, with gusts of 93mph being recorded in Aberdaron in Gwynedd," she said. "The worst is over - at least for the time being," he said.
"It's very windy inland too. A yellow warning in force until 11am this morning. The winds could cause structural damage. "But it was certainly a very wet and wild start to the week."
"If that wasn't enough we've also got the heavy rain to go with it, so there is a chance of flooding especially for Swansea right across to Newport. Environment Agency Wales added that the forecast of more rain could bring more flood warnings in the days to come.
"The good news is that the rain should clear by around midday, with the winds easing too but still touching gale force this afternoon.
"The advice is to leave plenty of time if you are travelling."

Carmarthenshire County Council said there were no serious problems although gusts of 90mph were recorded at Cefn Sidan beach overnight.
An Environment Agency Wales spokesperson said people were advised to be vigilant.
"Some heavy and prolonged rain is to be expected, particularly across the hills of south Wales, the Brecon Beacons and much of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil, with much of the remainder of Wales also experiencing a wet night," said the spokesperson.
"Possible flooding of property, roads and low lying land may occur leading to some disruption.
"There is also a risk of falling debris due to the high winds expected."
