The tribute was held by staff and pupils at Inverness Royal Academy. The tribute was held at Inverness Royal Academy before the morning interval.
Scott had left the school last year. A special assembly was also held for fifth and sixth year pupils who had been classmates of Scott's before he left school last summer.
Rector Alastair McKinlay said: "Scott was a very personable young man who was full of energy and had a great sense of humour.
"He was strong and energetic and would have had a lot to contribute in the future.
"He was a very popular boy and our thoughts are very much with the family, especially his younger sister Sarah who is in first year here."
Floral tributes have been left by friends close to where Scott's body was found.
Police have asked that people wishing to pay their respects should attend a memorial service later, rather than visit the scene.
Northern Constabulary said: "We understand that people may wish to pay their respects or leave floral tributes, but we would wish to discourage friends and other members of the public from visiting the locus of his death due to the potential disturbance which that may cause to neighbouring houses.
"They are encouraged instead to attend the memorial service this evening to pay their respects, where they will be welcome by Scott's family."
The service at the Culduthel Christian Centre starts at 19:30.
