Search after yacht runs aground Hunt continues as yacht crew safe
(about 1 hour later)
A search is under way after a 17ft (5m) yacht was found run aground at Dinas Head near Fishguard. A sea search is continuing off Newport, Pembrokeshire, after a yacht was found adrift, even though the owner and crew have been found safe and well on land.
There was no sign of the two people who were believed to have been on board as part of a sailing tour of Wales. Milford Haven Coastguard said the alert was raised after the 17ft (5m) vessel was found at Dinas Head near Fishguard.
Fishguard lifeboat has been launched by Milford Haven Coastguard and an RAF Sea King helicopter has been scrambled from Chivenor in North Devon. Coastguards say they do not yet know if the yacht came free from its moorings or was stolen, and are still searching in case anyone went overboard.
Coastguard shore teams have been sent to the area. One life jacket was found on the vessel by rescuers. A rescue helicopter and Fishguard lifeboat were called to the scene.
Police are said to be investigating to establish whether the yacht was stolen.
