(about 2 hours later) | |
A man has been arrested after a 79-year-old woman was held captive for 28 hours at a house in the West Midlands.
Police had been at the scene of the stand-off since 07:00 GMT on Sunday at a house on Perry Hill Road in Warley.
They said a 40-year-old man had been holding the woman while armed with a knife.
Officers said a man had now given himself up and had been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment. The woman was not seriously injured.
Police negotiators, including armed officers, had cordoned off neighbouring roads and spent the night trying to persuade the man to free the woman.
Ch Supt Phil Kay said the incident was believed to be domestic-related.
