Ch Supt Phil Kay said the incident was believed to be domestic-related. 'Safe conclusion'
Assistant Chief Constable Sharon Rowe said: "I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding.
"Thankfully the matter has been brought to a safe conclusion as the man left of his own accord.
"We cannot comment further on the motivation for this situation, however we can confirm that the matter is domestic-related and those involved are mother and son."
She added the woman had been taken to hospital as a precaution and that forensic officers would now start investigations at the house.
