Det Supt Walton said: "I would like to reassure members of the community that this is an isolated incident and an experienced team of detectives are carrying out a full and thorough investigation into the deaths." Det Supt Walton said the post mortem examinations were due to be carried out later on the two bodies to establish the cause of death.
He said: "It is not clear how long the bodies had been in the flat, lying in situ but it is believed to be days not weeks.
"At this stage we do not know the cause of death. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths."
