Stars arrive for Bafta film awards Baftas: Skyfall named best British film

Stars of the silver screen have begun arriving in London for the 66th Bafta Film Awards. James Bond film Skyfall has been named outstanding British film at this year's Baftas.
US Civil War drama Lincoln leads this year's nominations with 10 nods, including best film and best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis. The movie beat Anna Karenina, The Best Exotical Marigold Hotel, Les Miserables and Seven Psychopaths to win the honour.
Day-Lewis is up against four other actors including Ben Affleck, who is also in the running for best director for his political thriller Argo. "We all had high expectations for this film and this is really the icing on the cake," director Sam Mendes said as he accepted the award.

Musical adaptation Les Miserables and Ang Lee's Life of Pi both have nine nominations, while James Bond film Skyfall follows close behind with eight, including one for outstanding British film. Les Miserables was also an early winner at the awards held at London's Royal Opera House.
Skyfall stars Dame Judi Dench and Javier Bardem will compete in the best supporting actress and actor categories. Daniel Craig, however, missed out on a best actor nomination. The musical adaptation - which went into the ceremony with nine nominations - received awards for best sound and best make-up and hair.
Other contenders for the outstanding British film prize include The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Anna Karenina and Les Miserables. Joe Wright's adaptation of Anna Karenina came away with best costume design.
While Disney Pixar film Brave was named best animation.
