A 75-year-old man has been stabbed to death near a school in Birmingham.A 75-year-old man has been stabbed to death near a school in Birmingham.
He was found in Little Green Lane, Small Heath, near to Wyndcliffe Primary School at 22:30 BST on Monday. He died later in hospital. He was found in Little Green Lane, Small Heath, near to Wyndcliffe Primary School at 22:30 BST on Monday. He then died in hospital.
The school would be shut on Tuesday, West Midlands Police said. The school, which is within a cordoned off area, was shut on Tuesday. Police urged drivers and pedestrians to avoid Little Green Lane and surrounding roads in Small Heath.
Det Insp Martin Slevin said detectives would be examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents. A post-mortem examination into the man's death will be carried out later. Post-mortem tests are expected to be carried out later.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man had been taken to Heartlands Hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after arriving there.
