Birmingham man held over 'Syria terror training camp' claim 'Syria terror' arrests: Two men charged, police say
(35 minutes later)
A 21-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested at a London airport on suspicion of attending a "terrorist training camp" in Syria, police said. Two men have been charged on suspicion of terrorism offences relating to activities in Syria, police have said.
The man, from Sheldon, was held by counter-terrorism police after returning to Gatwick on a flight from Istanbul, West Midlands Police said. Yusuf Sawar and Mohammed Ahmed, both 21, from Handsworth, Birmingham, were charged with planning and travelling to the country for terrorism, West Midlands police said.
They said it was not linked to Monday's arrests of two men from Handsworth, Birmingham, at Heathrow on suspicion of Syria-linked terror offences. They were held at Heathrow on Monday.
They are being questioned until Monday. Separately, a 21-year-old man from the Sheldon area of Birmingham was arrested at Gatwick on suspicion of attending a "terrorist training camp" in Syria.
Police said the men, both aged 21, were believed to have travelled to Syria last May. He had been returning from Istanbul.
