| A 44-year-old man was shot in the leg at a railway station in Essex by an unknown attacker who fled in a car. | |
| The wounded man taken to hospital in Basildon following the early morning attack in Shenfield station car park, a British Transport Police (BTP) said. | |
| The attacker, who was wearing a balaclava, ran off and escaped in a vehicle parked nearby. | |
| Police believed it was a targeted attack and have attempted to reassure the public. | |
