Child sex suspect van eliminated Man in court after police appeal
(1 day later)
Police trying to find a suspected child sex offender said they have found a white van they feared he could be travelling in to flee the country. A man who handed himself in to police after an appeal to find a suspected sex offender will appear before magistrates later.
Paul Anthony Bures, 53, is wanted by Northumbria Police over alleged attacks in the North East and police think he could be in Kent, Hampshire or Dorset. Northumbria Police made an appeal over the weekend to trace a van belonging to Paul Anthony Bures, which has since been eliminated from inquiries.
He features on the Crimestoppers Most Wanted website and is wanted in relation to 13 child sex offences. They want to question Mr Bures, 53, over alleged attacks in the North East.
Dorset Police said a van registered to him was eliminated from the inquiry. Police have released no details about the man who handed himself in or of any alleged offences before the court.
Northumbria Police recently secured a European arrest warrant for Mr Bures, who is wanted in relation to multiple charges of rape and serious sexual assault on teenage boys. A spokeswoman for the force, which recently secured a European arrest warrant for Mr Bures who is featured on the Crimestoppers UK Most Wanted website, said: "Following an appeal put out for the whereabouts of a white van, whose owner Paul Bures is wanted by police for sexual offences against children, at 11.30pm last night a 53-year-old man handed himself in at Canterbury police station in Kent."
Mr Bures, who has lived in Kent and in Spain, is described as 6ft (1.82m) tall, of medium build, and with grey hair. The man is due to appear at North Tyneside Magistrates Court.
