An area of Nottingham has been sealed off as armed police deal with an incident. An area of Nottingham has been sealed off following reports of a gunman at a snooker club.
Officers were called to a snooker club in Vine Terrace, Hucknall, at about 14:40 GMT following reports of a man acting suspiciously. Officers were called to the Top Spot Snooker Club on Vine Terrace in Hucknall at about 14:40 GMT after a man was said to be "acting suspiciously".
Vine Terrace and High Street are closed. Vine Terrace and High Street have been closed off.
The force is arranging for pupils at nearby Beardall Street Primary School to be collected by parents. Police are asking people to avoid the area. A man claiming to be the gunman told reporters who called the snooker club: "It's none of your business why I'm here."
Answering the phone to the Nottingham Post, the man said "I'm the guy with the gun.
"I'm not sure what happened. I'm on my own in here, everyone else just ran off. I'm going to go home in a minute and chill out and watch TV and that."
Children at nearby Beardall Street Primary School were delayed going home and people were told by police not to leave the Byron Cinema because it was not safe.
Police have asked people to avoid the area.
