Isabelle Sanders died in 'violent' attack in Glasgow house Police 'know' identity of Isabelle Sanders killer
(35 minutes later)
A woman who died at her home suffered a "violent attack" by a man who pushed his way inside, the BBC has been told. Police believed they have identified a man who stabbed a woman to death at her Glasgow home and have linked the suspect to an earlier stabbing attack.
A neighbour of Isabelle Sanders said he ran to her house in Raeswood Drive, in Crookston, Glasgow, after hearing the alarm in the early hours of Wednesday. Isabelle Sanders, 51, was stabbed at her home in Crookston, Glasgow, early on Wednesday. He partner Norman Busby, 85, was also stabbed but survived.
He said he was "horrified" to see the 51-year-old lying dead and her partner Norman Busby, 85, badly injured. Police believe the suspect also stabbed a man in an earlier failed car jacking attack outside a nearby Spar store.
Police are treating the incident as murder and said they were following a definite line of inquiry. They refused to confirm if there was a connection to a youth arrested earlier.
The neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said Mr Busby told him that a man came to their door and pushed his way into the house before attacking them in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
'Lovely couple'
The neighbour said it was "too late to do anything for Isabelle" but Mr Busby, who was badly injured, was able to tell him what had happened.
The intruder had already fled the scene by the time the neighbour arrived.
He said Mr Busby and Ms Sanders "were a lovely couple" who were "great neighbours" and he could not believe this had happened in an area where you could "hear a pin drop".
Ms Sanders' body was found at the house at about 01:55 on Wednesday.
Mr Busby is being treated for his injuries at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.
Police have described the suspect as white, Scottish, with a local accent, between 20 and 30 years old, about 5ft 10in to 5ft 11in tall with a slim build and short dark hair.
At the time of the incident he was wearing jeans, a light blue top and blue canvas deck shoes.
