The remainder of the children in the class were being sent home as a precaution and the classroom had been ventilated, said the spokesman. A hospital spokesman said the five were experiencing breathing problems and he expected another nine to be admitted later.
One pupil has been admitted to a ward, another to a children's ward, two were being assessed and another was allowed home.
Another nine pupils were being assessed by ambulance crews at the school.
The remainder of the children in the class were being sent home as a precaution and the classroom had been ventilated, said a fire service spokesman.
