Ivor Evans left Glangwili Hospital with a bandage on his head at around 19:45 BST on Tuesday. Dyfed-Powys Police said Ivor Evans was found shortly before 19:00 BST on Wednesday and has been taken back to hospital for treatment.
The pensioner who "may appear confused" was seen at 01:30 BST on Wednesday in the Llanarthne area. The pensioner had left Glangwili Hospital with a bandage on his head at about 19:45 BST on Tuesday.
Dyfed-Powys Police said it was "increasingly concerned" for Mr Evans' welfare. Officers became increasingly concerned for him and appealed for the public to check their sheds and outbuildings.
Sgt Dominic Jones said: "We need to find him as soon as possible. There has been a confirmed sighting at 1am in the Llanarthne area, and I would appeal to residents in the area to check their sheds and outbuildings."
