A large blaze has swept through an industrial site in Salford, Greater Manchester. A huge fire at an industrial site in Salford sent plumes of smoke into the sky that could be seen from miles away.
Crews were called to the Junction Eco Park estate, Rake Lane, in the Clifton area of Swinton, at about 16:40 GMT. The blaze at the Junction Eco Park estate, in the Clifton area of Swinton, involved a "large quantity" of recycled plastics, the fire service said.
It followed reports of a large quantity of recyclable material on fire, causing plumes of thick black smoke. The fire has now been brought under control.

Motorists on the nearby M60 have been advised by the fire service to take care while driving due to smoke. Firefighters are expected to remain at the site through the night dealing with the fire, which was reported at about 16:40 GMT.
In a statement the fire service said eight fire engines, an aerial appliance and a command support unit have been sent to the scene. Area manager Wayne Shields, who was the officer in charge, said: "Crews were faced with a severe fire at a waste recycling plant.
Crew are protecting adjacent buildings with jets of water to stop the fire from spreading. "When they first arrived plastic was melting and running down to the adjacent buildings.
There are ambulances on the scene, but nobody has been injured. "They did a fantastic job and worked extremely hard to protect the surrounding buildings."
The officer in charge of the incident, area manager Wayne Shields, said: "There is still a lot of black smoke coming from the scene so we would ask people to take care - keep your windows closed and stay away from the area while we deal with this incident." Ambulances were sent to the scene, but nobody was injured.
