A major search involving a coastguard rescue helicopter and several lifeboats is under way for a fishing boat. Rescuers involved in a major search for a missing fisherman say they believe he may have gone into the water overnight.
Four lifeboats from Llandudno and Rhyl are scouring the area off Llanddulas, near Colwyn Bay, after the alarm was raised at 11:30 BST on Wednesday. A coastguard helicopter and several lifeboats have been searching an area off Llanddulas, near Colwyn Bay, for his vessel since Wednesday morning.
A search and rescue helicopter has also been launched from its base at Caernarfon Airport. The alarm was raised at 11:30 BST, 12 hours after a concerned relative last made contact with the man.
The missing vessel is a 25ft (7.62m) fishing boat and it has been classed as "overdue" since Wednesday morning. RNLI lifecrews have found the vessel's life raft and are now investigating debris on the shoreline.
An RNLI spokesman said: "We were scrambled just before midday to help in searching the sea area and coastline between the Great Orme and Rhyl. The missing vessel is a 25ft (7.62m) fishing boat and it has been classed as "overdue".
"An area between Rhos Point and Llanddulas is currently being searched. UK Coastguard controller Graham Clark said: "We are fearful that this fisherman may have entered the water overnight. Nevertheless the search is ongoing."
