Manchester United v PSG: International Champions Cup – live! Manchester United v PSG: International Champions Cup – live!
(35 minutes later)
9.29pm ET02:29
23 min: Beautiful touch by Mata on the touchline, but PSG are very quick to get back. Now Mata has the ball in the net! Fabulous long pass from Blind, over the heads of the two centre-backs, but the flag was up for offside.
9.28pm ET02:28
22 min: PSG just starting to express themselves. Man United need to get Schweinsteiger and Carrick on the ball. Aurier looks long for Ibra, but he’s offside.
9.27pm ET02:27
21 min: Corner for PSG. Lucas with it, and Ibrahimovic loses Shaw, but sends his header wide! I think he gave Shaw a bump there, but he wasn’t penalised: another good chance for Zlatan!
9.26pm ET02:26
20 min: Ooh, Rooney was almost in there: Shaw went down the left, crossed well, and Thiago did just enough to take it off Rooney’s head. Shaw had made several good runs down the left. I know he didn’t do amazingly last year, but he’s a good attacking full-back, isn’t he? Even if he is a bit tubby. Maybe that’s unfair. Let’s say he’s solid.
9.25pm ET02:25
18 min: Man United give it away cheaply in defence, not for the first time, and Ibrahimovic is free about 30 yards from goal. Is that a trip by Schweini? Ref says no, and Ibrahimovic is pissed.
9.23pm ET02:23
17 min: Maxwell does well down the left, but his cross is headed clear by Jones, who was in the right position. Then Verratti looks for Ibrahimovic, but again his ball is overhit. Now a big chance for Depay! Rooney went down the left, turned Thiago and fed Depay, who arrived late … and spanked his shot well wide. He went for power. He shouldn’t have!
9.21pm ET02:21
14 min: Dreadful pass from Aurier, who gives it straight to Young, but PSG are quick to get behind the ball, and the momentum is lost. United not quite clicking in attack.
9.20pm ET02:20
12 min: Depay, who’s been quiet so far, has a go from about 25 yards. Trapp fields cleanly. Now Augustin streaks clear of Shaw, but his cross is disappointing.
9.18pm ET02:18
11 min: It’s been a moderate start. Six out of 10, and no spectacular attacking play, but Ibrahimovic should really have done better from De Gea’s error.
9.17pm ET02:17
8 min: Ibrahimovic heads clear, and PSG try to break, but Verratti’s pass is too strong for Augustin. Shame.
Anyone got any emails/diary entries/research papers they’d like to share? Get in touch!
9.14pm ET02:14
7 min: Darmian gets clear again down the right, fed by Mata, and Thiago clears. It’s a corner, and Mata will take.
9.13pm ET02:13
6 min: Here’s Lucas on the left, and that’s a corner, as Darmian comes over to cover. Lucas takes the kick himself, and his ball in is truly terrible. Goal kick.
9.12pm ET02:12
4 min: Schweinsteiger comes very deep to collect the ball, doesn’t he? Maybe he thinks Jones and Blind can’t pass. Now PSG have it, until they give it away.

9.10pm ET02:10
2 min: First glimpse from Ibrahimovic, and he tried to scoop it over for Augustin, but United cleared. And then a massive chance for the Swede! De Gea’s clearance was hapless, and Ibrahimovic had a free shot, from about 12 yards, and he put it miles over. Gah!
9.09pm ET02:09
And we're off!
1 min: PSG are in dark blue. Man Utd in red. Darmian hurries down the right and crosses low, but his cross is cleared by Thiago. Good start from the Red Devils. (Does anyone call them that any more?)
9.07pm ET02:07
Teams just having their pictures taken. God, Zlatan is so tall and dreamy. He plays up front with Lucas Moura and Jean-Kevin Augustin. No David Luiz for PSG: Serge Aurier takes his place in dee-fence and Gregory van der Wiel comes in at full-back.
9.05pm ET02:05
Apparently there actually is a cup to win. Who knew! If PSG want to win the International Champions Cup they have to beat Manchester by more than two goals. Man Utd just need to win.
9.03pm ET02:03
We’re nearly there. All the anthems and stuff are done. Minutes away!
8.58pm ET01:58
Over the past few seasons, PSG have been very active on social media, presumably to try to convince everyone that they’re open and accessible, and not some soulless modern behemoth bankrolled by Qatari oil money. All admirable stuff, and I appreciate their effort, but alas, alack, their posts are extremely boring. Sorry PSG! This, for example, is zzzzz:

Just watching that Chelsea v Barcelona shootout from last night. Jordi Masip went the wrong way for each of Chelsea’s four spot-kicks. Is that a record? Goalies usually guess right at least once, don’t they? Even if they don’t get near them:Just watching that Chelsea v Barcelona shootout from last night. Here’s former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson throwing the first pitch in the game between the Cubs and the Rockies in Chicago today. So much to enjoy! I like his Roshes. Plus, he looks good for 58, doesn’t he? Let’s just hope he didn’t put his shoulder out throwing it too hard. Here’s former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson throwing the first pitch in the game between the Cubs and the Rockies in Chicago today. Strong teams, no? I’m looking forward to seeing Darmian, and Schweinsteiger. Also, I love Verratti: what a clever playmaker he is. Let’s hope it’s a good game!Strong teams, no? So, despite United insisting football matters are always the prime concern regarding any aspect of club strategy, commercial imperatives are a major factor that have to be considered. Van Gaal understands this though, given the pressure he is under to win trophies, he will be keen to have next year’s tour as low-key and player-friendly as is practical.
Van Gaal spoke of how the trip has been better suited to preparation for the new campaign. “We have already changed a lot of things in relation to this tour. The last tour, we were on the other coast with more heat and humidity and that was a negative,” he said, of the final match against Liverpool in Miami. “It is also hot here, but people say it is not normal. We only have two base camps, last year we had to fly and fly with different schedules and time zones each time.Van Gaal spoke of how the trip has been better suited to preparation for the new campaign. “We have already changed a lot of things in relation to this tour.
