Daniel McBride, 44, of St Denys Road, Southampton, was found guilty on Wednesday following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.

McBride was ordered to spend a minimum of 29 years in jail.
Sentencing McBride to life in prison, Mr Justice Akenhead said the fact that McBride had refused to leave his cell to appear in the court room "showed a total lack of courage or remorse or even respect toward his victim".
He said: "This was a brutal, merciless, horrible and disgusting crime on an essentially decent but very vulnerable woman in the privacy of her own home."
Of the night before her murder, the judge said McBride was "undoubtedly looking for sex" of a "perverted, violent" nature.
The CCTV outside Ms Lynch's flat in St Mary's Road showed McBride appearing in the early hours when the judge said he was "sexually frustrated and fuelled by both alcohol and drugs".
He had used cocaine at least four times in the last 24 hours, which the judge said would have "rendered him impotent and the use of the shampoo bottle involved simply playing out for his own perverted satisfaction".
The court heard Ms Lynch was found at the flat by her carer "doubled up with pain" and was taken to hospital. She died two days later.
McBride had an extensive criminal record including aggravated burglary, wounding with intent, robbery and possession of a shotgun, the court heard.
Mr Justice Akenhead also revealed he committed the attack while on licence for robbery. |
