The Guardian and Independent support

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 at 12:16 pm

I rolled out the new version of News Sniffer last night. It’s mostly changes to Revisionista:

  • The Guardian and Independent World and UK feeds added to Revisionista
  • Voting system for Revisionista versions. Recommend interesting revisions for others
  • Recommended revisions list and RSS feed
  • The Revisionista revision list displays the latest title
  • Tweaked the Revisionista layout to be a bit cleaner
  • Added some more stats to the front page summary
  • The Revisionista search now includes titles
  • A few performance tweaks

The search system is a little crummy at the moment. I have plans to add a more advanced searching system in future.

Anyway, get recommending revisions!

    What a brilliant idea. Excellent!

    Sir,
I believe that the introduction of the word ‘Tory’ into BBC News Broadcasts was a deliberate de-branding exercise of the Conservative Party by,in my opinion,Labour people and left wing journalists in the BBC.Designed to ‘anti compliment’ the Labour/New (improved)Labour brand renewal.I believe the ‘Labour Terms’ were/are used diversely depending on the content of the story:’Labour’–when talking about ‘traditional socialist values’. ‘New (improved) Labour’–when referring to the party’s ‘vision of the future’ etc.The ‘Conservative Terms’ were/are used diversely depending on the story:’Conservative’–stuck in the mud.’Tory’–snobs and the rich.Could/would your programme detect such biased usage?!I’m most interested in the BBC but after all this time I’m certain it’s spread through all media. The ‘Labour Terms’ are mutually reinforcing so can be used interchangeably and in the same report. The ‘Conservative Terms’ are not reinforcing so their use in the same report is brand muddying.A double whammy on the Conservative side!!

Yeah, great idea, but when you make a recommendation and there are two revisions on the page, which one are you recommending?

  4. johnl says:

David: You are voting for that set of changes (the revision), so in a way you are voting for both versions. When your voted revision is listed as recommended the link takes the user to the same page you see when you voted.

Can I ask why you have only allowed the ‘Guardian’ and ‘Índependent’ to be included?, as a website which sniffs out bias at the BBC, I find it bizzare that you have only taken two left-wing papers.
