The Nats are waving, "over here".
Barnaby Joyce has written to Turnbull asking him to clarify the water responsibilities after Liberal senator Anne Ruston was appointed assistant minister. The Oz reported the Nats are antsy about maintaining total control over water, which was their one key win in the coalition agreement drawn up with Turnbull.
The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder, which is the body that buys water, has remained with the environment department.
Turnbull has yet to reply but he has a meeting with the Nationals on Wednesday.
Barnaby did not sound too worried.
I’m absolutely certain the agreement will be honoured. This is crucial for how the Coalition works. The Coalition is a business arrangement between different parties.

Former Labor MP Peter Garrett is out flogging his book. He has ruffled Labor feathers for repeating what has been heard before regarding former PM Kevin Rudd’s attractive personality traits, including being a megalomaniac. This is Garrett.
I’ve been particularly strong in this book about leadership and Rudd’s leadership and I think it needed to be said. Rudd wasn’t someone who was easy to work with in that way, and his vanity and his exercise of power as prime minister was contrary ultimately, to me, to what good leadership is.
Anthony Albanese, sometime leadership contender, senior frontbencher and Rudd backer, says poppycock. Rudd was a good PM.
Kevin Rudd was a good prime minister. Kevin Rudd is one of three Labor leaders to take Labor from opposition to government in the post-war period, along with Gough Whitlam and Bob Hawke. Kevin Rudd is deserving of respect as a Labor leader, just as Julia Gillard is, and I think that Peter Garrett’s comments last night are most unfortunate indeed and do not reflect well on him.

It becomes broadly unacceptable to the Australian people. That’s the message here. The Australian people, through the Royal Childrens Hospital have shifted and they have said our detention policies are not good enough. Therefore long term indefinite detention is not acceptable in this country. It always comes to this. I knew it would come to this. It has come to this again. After doctors at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne refused to return children to detention centres, Liberal MP Russell Broadbent has made a stunning intervention. Good morning revolutionaries,Good morning revolutionaries,
Today, I would urge you all to go all Che Guevara and release your inner revolutionary for this, the second sitting week of the ReTurnBull. But the weekend was not all plain railing for the prime minister. He was jeered at the NSW Liberal State Council when he suggested the Liberal party was not run by factions. Turnbull is also facing discontent within grass roots members over the party’s failure to implement the full Howard reforms which would allow members more say in preselections. Daniel Hurst has documented the weekend’s events here. But the weekend was not all plain railing for the prime minister. Tony Abbott is expected to be sitting on the backbench this week for the first time since he lost the job. He will be sitting next to Queensland Liberal Andrew Laming, who took part in a move to dump Abbott in February so that little bench will have a chilly air. Abbott has had almost four weeks to lick his wounds and ride the long board before moving into his backbench office next to his former pal Bronwyn Bishop. They will probably not be meeting for morning tea, given Bishop’s switch to Turnbull after Abbott took so much flak for her penchant for helicopters.Tony Abbott is expected to be sitting on the backbench this week for the first time since he lost the job.
