You know those parties where you don’t feel entirely welcome?
The Flavours of Tasmania event is an annual parliamentary par-tay to celebrate the produce of that wonderful state. It is traditionally hosted by Eric Abetz, the former government senate leader, the former employment minister and the loyal Tony Abbott lieutenant. Of course he had to invite the current PM, which would have been as appealing to him as root canal therapy. Abetz was joined by army man, former whip and Abbott loyalist Andrew Nikolic.
Here they are, the Tassie tigers, perfecting their Julie Bishop death stare. I felt sure that any moment, Abetz might employ the Vulcan death grip but thankfully, Malcolm Turnbull survived the podium to drink tiny specimen cups of Tasmanian whiskey.
