Umemployment steady
The Australian Bureau of Statistics says the unemployment rate has stayed fairly steady on 6.2% from 6.3% in July. The employment minister, Michaelia Cash, is speaking about the jobs figure. But there has been a drop in full-time jobs as opposed to part-time work, which increased.
Q: How concerned are you that over the past month almost 14,000 full-time jobs have gone?
Certainly again, as I said, I prefer to look it at over the long-term average and when you look at the number of jobs that have been created since we came into government, since September 2013, approximately 310 ,000 jobs have been created.

In the water space, anybody who has an opinion has a strong one. They don’t always line up but that is part of the art form of the politics in this portfolio. I think there’s something I’m really relishing, the opportunity to be part of the process of making sure that we look after the social outcomes of people who live in the basin, the economic future of the over two million people who live in the basin and the vast export capacity that has as well as the environmental outcomes which it - with the coalition government - started the process of remedying.
