Toddler, man shot in Barracks Row barbershop in SE Washington
(35 minutes later) | |
An adult and a toddler were shot inside a barbershop in the Barracks Row area of Southeast Washington on Friday afternoon.
Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham described a terrifying scene inside the shop in the 1100 block of Eighth Street SE. Three men wearing masks entered the store about 1:40 p.m. At least one opened fire, hitting the adult man multiple times and also shooting the child, whom police believe is the adult victim’s son.
Newsham said that the masked men were not there to rob the store. They appeared to be targeting someone, though it was not clear that the adult was the intended target.
D.C. police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said that both victims are expected to survive their wounds. The child was able to talk when he arrived at the hospital, Newsham said.
