Harrison awaits fitness verdict Harrison 'fit to box' says lawyer
(about 4 hours later)
Scott Harrison has undergone a medical examination that will determine if he can defend his WBO featherweight title on 9 December. WBO featherweight Scott Harrison has been passed fit to defend his title against Nicky Cook on 9 December, says his lawyer Massimo Franchi.
But Harrison's manager Barry Hughes told BBC Sport that the result will not be released until Thursday. The medical, by British Boxing Board of Control-approved doctors, followed the 29-year-old's return to Scotland after five weeks in a Spanish prison.
The troubled fighter has returned to Scotland after being released on bail from a Spanish prison on Monday night. He was arrested on 6 October after several alleged offences, including an assault on a police officer.
And Hughes is confident that his charge will be fit and able to meet challenger Nicky Cook in London next month. Harrison faces another hearing in Spain on a date which is still to be set.
The British Boxing Board of Control will oversee the medical and make the final decision on Harrison's condition.
"I've no worries about the fight itself. My only concern is getting Scott to the fight," said Hughes.
"On 9 December, after three or four rounds, Nicky Cook is going to find himself in a place he does not want to be.

"Scott is below the weight he would normally be at this time before a fight because obviously he hasn't been able to over-indulge. Promoter Frank Warren had been keen for the medical check-up to take place as soon as possible, so he could finally confirm the bill at London's ExCel Arena.
"I'm not sure exactly what his diet is but he told me it wasn't the worst food they were giving him. But I am confident he will retain his belt." "It has been an unsatisfactory situation and has not been good for Scott or for the sport," said Warren before the examination took place.
The 29-year-old Harrison spent five weeks behind bars in Malaga.

"We have the right to have him take a medical and he will undertake one with a doctor registered with the BBBC.
"It is a sorry state of affairs all round but the prime consideration has to be to Scott's health first and foremost. But, if he is fit, then the fight will go ahead.""It is a sorry state of affairs all round but the prime consideration has to be to Scott's health first and foremost.
