Harrison 'fit to box' says lawyer Confusion over Harrison fitness
(about 2 hours later)
WBO featherweight Scott Harrison has been passed fit to defend his title against Nicky Cook on 9 December, says his lawyer Massimo Franchi. Scott Harrison's defence of his WBO featherweight title remains in doubt after mixed reports about his fitness.
The medical, by British Boxing Board of Control-approved doctors, followed the 29-year-old's return to Scotland after five weeks in a Spanish prison. Harrison's lawyer Massimo Franchi said the Scot had passed a British Boxing Board of Control-approved medical and will fight Nicky Cook on 9 December.
He was arrested on 6 October after several alleged offences, including an assault on a police officer. But Harrison's manager Barry Hughes told Five Live that while the signs are good he is waiting on offical results.
Harrisson, 29, returned to Scotland for the medical after spending five weeks in a Spanish prison on assault charges.
However, Hughes says the medical results alone will not determine whether the Scot can get back in the ring.
He said the British Board of Boxing Control and the WBO will consider the results then make a decision on whether Harrison can defend his title.

Promoter Frank Warren had been keen for the medical check-up to take place as soon as possible, so he could finally confirm the bill at London's ExCel Arena. His imprisonment was the latest in a series of troubled episodes for the fighter.
"It has been an unsatisfactory situation and has not been good for Scott or for the sport," said Warren before the examination took place.
"Legally, I am obliged to honour the contract and, providing he is passed fit to fight, then I have to honour that.
"It is a sorry state of affairs all round but the prime consideration has to be to Scott's health first and foremost. But, if he is fit, then the fight will go ahead."
