Trump's latest tweet has attacked Chuck Jones, the president of the United Steelworkers Local 1999 trade union. Jones recently cast doubt on Trump's announcement that he had saved jobs going from Indiana to Mexico. Trump's latest tweet has had quite an impact. Railing against the cost of the government's fighter jet contract with Lockheed Martin, which has cost over $1tn, he tweeted: "The F-35 program and cost is out of control. Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after January 20th."
Trump tweeted: "Chuck Jones, who is President of United Steelworkers 1999, has done a terrible job representing workers. No wonder companies flee country!". Jones says he has since received threatening phone calls. Lockheed Martin's share price has since dropped by as much as 4.6 per cent as the US market opened, knocking $3.5bn off their market cap.
They are the second business to be directly hit by a Donald Trump tweet in the last week, after the President-elect's attack on the cost on Boeing's Air Force One contract shaved around $1bn off their stock market value.
