A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man was taken to Birmingham's City Hospital but later died there.
Third shooting
He said: "Paramedics from the response vehicle travelled with the ambulance crew and provided additional assistance while the man was treated en route to hospital.
"But unfortunately, despite the best efforts of paramedics and hospital staff, they were unable to save him."
The latest incident is the third fatal shooting in the Newtown area in less than a year.
On 18 March Nehemiah Bryce, 27, of Winson Green, Birmingham, was shot in Rodway Close, near to Saturday night's shooting.
Assar Joseph Mohammed Tomlinson was shot dead on 23 December in an argument outside the King Of The Road pub in Hospital Street, Newtown.
