Snow leads to flights disruption Schools closed as snow sweeps in

Snowfalls across Scotland have shut several schools and caused difficult driving conditions and flight delays.
A total of 29 schools in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders have been closed due to the bad weather.
Elsewhere in Scotland, there have been widespread flight delays due to snow problems which affected many airports in south east England.
Weather warnings of heavy and drifting snow are also in place for many southern and eastern parts of Scotland.
Several roads in the east and south-east have a covering, and police have said the M74 is bad between Carlisle and Gretna.
Delays have also been reported around junction five of the M77 after an accident due to the snow.
Grampian Police said stretches of the A96 around Inverurie and the A95 near Keith were causing concern.
There was also an accident on the A90 at the Bridge of Dee and police urged drivers to take extra care on all routes.
The majority of the 18 Dumfries and Galloway schools closed were in the eastern part of the region.

In the Borders 11 primaries were shut - mostly in rural parts of the central Borders.
The Met Office has weather warnings in place for Grampian, Strathclyde, Central, Tayside and Fife as well as south west Scotland, Lothian and the Borders.
