A total of 35 schools in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders have been closed due to the bad weather. A total of 55 schools in Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders and Fife have been closed due to bad weather.
Elsewhere in Scotland, there have been widespread flight delays due to snow problems which affected many airports in south east England. Airports in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen have cancelled more than 60 flights due to the extreme conditions south of the border.

By mid morning on Monday a total of 24 outbound and 17 inbound flights had been cancelled at Edinburgh Airport.

At Glasgow 10 outbound and seven inbound flights had been cancelled with four outbound and three inbound flights cancelled in Aberdeen.
Many other services are subject to delay and anyone intending to travel south has been advised to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
