A spokeswoman for the Strathclyde force confirmed the alarm had been raised at about 0745 GMT. The alarm was raised at about 0745 GMT, when an injured man was found in Balgrayhill Road.
An eyewitness said Balgrayhill Road had been cordoned off by officers. Ambulances were also at the scene. A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said the man had suffered head wounds and stab injuries, and was taken to hospital.
The emergency services are said to have surrounded a flat in the street. Police would not give out any further information about the incident. Eyewitnesses said police had cordoned off Balgrayhill Road and were surrounding a flat in the street.
