The Daily Telegraph leads with the Tories' tax break for married couples and civil partners. The Financial Times takes a different view of the same story, focusing on the £1billion levy that would be slapped on UK banks in order to pay for it. The paper is sure that, unsurprisingly, the move will cause great anger in the City, especially if the Tories go ahead with it without a commitment to a similar levy from other competitor countries. "Migrant city's cry for help," is the Daily Mail's front page. The city in question is Peterborough, the plea comes from two independent councillors to the main party leaders. It lays bare "the devastating impact of uncontrolled, mass immigration on the fabric of English life", the paper claims.
