The speech featured a lot of personal references, but in an election campaign, even the personal is political, says the BBC's Iain Watson. Gordon Brown said, "I'm not slick, but I don't want to be" - a clear sideswipe at David Cameron. He also "plead guilty to a number of offences" - being impatient, too serious - but really he wants voters to think these things are actually strengths, not weaknesses. "The Tories must be feeling smug if they released George Osborne, the Shadowy Chancellor, giving a quick TV interview before scurrying back into the safety of Con Towers," writes Kevin Maguire, HREF="http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/maguire/2010/04/i-spy-boy-george.html" ID="9999" STYLE="LINK_Inline">of the Daily Mirror.
